Solid Card Reaches 105 Countries on Two Issuing Programs
Solid has added Wirex as a second card issuing partner, and the Solid Card is now listed as available in 105 countries: every EU and EEA member state, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and markets across Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, plus 30 or more US states. Savings stays available worldwide. The country list applies to the card and to Virtual Accounts.
The count is the smaller half of the news. Solid now runs two card programs in parallel, one with Rain and one with Wirex, and the program is assigned automatically when a card is ordered, based on country of residence. A cardholder does not choose, and there is no setting that switches it.
Fees are the same on both programs, limits are not
Issuance, the monthly fee and top-ups are free at every tier, and spending in US dollars costs nothing regardless of where the merchant sits. Purchases in another currency carry two FX charges: 1% from the issuing partner, built into the exchange rate rather than itemised, and a Solid FX fee of 1% at Core, 0.5% at Prime and zero at Ultra. That is 2%, 1.5% and 1% in total. Cross-border and international transaction fees are absorbed by Solid rather than passed through. The 1% partner fee is the same on both programs, so which partner issues the card does not change what a euro purchase costs.
Limits are where the two programs diverge. Solid states that limits, merchant rules and terms follow the program that issued the card, and those are also the figures it does not publish per program. Spending ceilings are described as balance-based, configurable per user and per card, adjustable at any time, and applied across per-transaction, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and lifetime intervals. The one dimension that varies by issuer is therefore the one dimension without a published number attached to it. Two people on the same tier in different countries can meet different ceilings, and nothing in the fee schedule tells either of them in advance.
At the top end the numbers are shared: transactions above roughly $250,000 may trigger verification from Visa, and a single transaction can reach about $750,000.
The card draws on the Safe wallet instead of a separate float
Solid deploys a non-custodial Safe wallet at signup, and the card spends from that balance rather than from a topped-up card account. Yield accrues until the transaction settles instead of stopping when money is moved aside for spending, and there is no withdrawal to a bank account before paying a merchant. Cashback runs 3% at Core, 4% at Prime and 5% at Ultra, paid in USDC into Savings up to a monthly cap set by tier.
On non-USD spending the cashback rate sits above the total FX cost at all three tiers, so the two partly offset each other; on USD purchases there is no FX cost to offset. The monthly cap is what decides where that stops, and it is a tier figure rather than a card-program one.
Residency and physical location are two separate restrictions
The card cannot be issued to residents of Belarus, China, Cuba, India, Iran, Iraq, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, North Korea, Russia, Syria or Venezuela. Separately, a card issued in an eligible country cannot be used while the holder is physically in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Venezuela, or the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. The second list is a travel constraint and applies whatever the country of residence.
Virtual Accounts carry a narrower list again: absent in Côte d'Ivoire, Hong Kong, Kenya and Pakistan, and in the United States missing from 13 states including California, New York and Texas. Local currency deposits run through TransFi in 16 currencies, with Thailand available for cash out only.
KYC is required for the card and issuance is subject to approval, so appearing on the country list is where the check starts rather than where it ends. Selecting a country of residence in the app returns either a path to verification or a waitlist.
